LIS4277 - Usability Information Systems
- Interactive Prototype - This is the interactive prototype my group developed. I coded the site using XHTML and CSS,
bringing to life the ideas created by the group. This website contains two pictures of cell phones. One is a smart phone and the
other is a popular Motorola Razr. This site was just a page that allowed the group to emulate two phone sizes so we could showcase
our prototype in its intended sizes.

- Heuristic Evaluation - This is a heuristic evaluation, or an analysis of a website based on usability and design
guidelines. This is my analysis of Florida State's Library website. The results from the user testing were collected as a group, but
the remainder of the document was written individually.

LIS4930-07 - Web Programming PHP
- Survey Generator - This was the final project in my PHP class. This was the first time I had to do a coding assignment
within a group. For this project, I did the bulk of the programming and syntax, however, we worked together as a group on the whole
thing. We combined our knowledge and strengths to work together to solve the problems we faced.

- (28.4 KB) - Prototype Website - This sample is the prototype website that I designed for my group. This is the website that we
conducted the usability test on. This was the first site that I really designed that focused on design and usability guidelines.
Also, there is the actual usability test document and the results from the test. Both the test and the results were completed as a
group, however the document showcases the skills the entire group learned during this project.

- Web Redesign - For this web redesign, we had to take a current website that broke every possible design guideline and
create a new layout. This layout had to be created using Photoshop, with each item, text layer, and element on their own layer.
This assignment was my first real attempt at creating a wireframe. Note, that the PSD file is also below which can be viewed in
Photoshop so that you can see all layers, styles, and fonts.

- (72.0 KB) - Persuasive Speech Outline - This is my outline for my persuasive speech. The speech was meant to persuade my audience to
drive manual transmissions. I discussed why manual transmissions are more efficient, cheaper and require less maintenance. I also
brought up a lot of counter points so that my argument was stronger. I learned a lot about counter arguments in this speech. The
sample includes all of my points, transitional sentences and even my counter arguments.

About Me Work Samples
Personal SWOT Analysis
The following analysis details my strengths and weaknesses and discusses the outside opportunities as well as the threats that can hinder me from reaching my goals. I feel this very self reflective analysis has given me a better understanding of what I need to work on and what outside factors I must consider when reaching for my goals.

Experience Work Samples
Webmaster & Data Entry Clerk
- Website Designs – These designs are my first real professional website experience. I have designed several websites
for the company, including the company's own website. My most recent samples, such as ThinkTally and TalGovSpending, include websites that
incorporate PHP and MySQL databases.
View TalGovSpending.com - I developed a site for my boss Steve Stewart, a candidate for the Mayor of Tallahassee. This site is a searchable MySQL database that allows you to track and view the spending of the City of Tallahassee. This site is the best indication of my current skill level.
View ThinkTally - This is one of my favorite designs to date. This site uses a MySQL database and PHP to create a list of locally owned businesses in the Tallahassee area. The site's design, and the database are ready to go, but some of the content is still under development.
View RDSPurls - In this design my goal was to go with a simple graphical representation of the information. The site did not need many pages, so I went outside the box a bit, outside the box for me at least. It's a bit different then most of my designs.
View Personalized Real Estate Marketing Page - This personalized page will be different depending on the person viewing it and the house they live in as well as the neighborhood they are part of. This sample is a good showcase of my current PHP & MySQL skills as the data on the page will completely change for each person depending on what information is stored for them in the database.
- Real Estate Report Card – This is the final format for the completed data. All of the procedures and macros are used to
get it ready for this format. I did not create this format; I merely prepare the data so that it fits into this format.

- STARS Alliance Website - This is the website that I updated and maintained on a regular basis. I did not develop the
website, I merely maintained it.

Webmaster
- New Website Design - This is the design that I developed for the Children's Campaign, Inc. I would say that this is one
my best web design samples. I designed the site as well as transferred over old content, but I am not responsible for any of the
current content.

Center for Health Informatics Webmaster
- CHI Website Design - This is design for the Center for Health Informatics. I took the possible new template for the
College of Information, designed by their Webmaster, and I modified it to fit the needs of the Center for Health Informatics.

- Website Development Project Plan - This document is the project plan that I wrote for the Website design. It includes
screenshots of the template, includes more detailed information about the project, describes the layout in detail, as well as
includes what content I was going to need from outside sources.

Project Documentation
The documentation I had to write for this project will undoubtedly help in the future as I am sure this will not be the last time I will have to document something. By having the documentation reviewed by the end user, I was able to get great feedback and make the documentation as usable as possible. Below are three separate documents that I had to create for the project.
- Downloading Procedures - This documentation demonstrates how to download the data off the HOBO devices and get it into
an Excel spreadsheet.
Download the Downloading Procedures (PDF)
- (390 KB) - Out of Range Data Results - This documentation shows the user how to take the Excel spreadsheets from the downloading
procedures and extract the out of range points and then save those points to a separate sheet for analysis.

- (127 KB) - Change Device Settings - This documentation teaches the user how to change the device's name and the interval
(how often it records data points).

Project Blog
Throughout the project, I was required to keep a blog that detailed my weekly experiences with the project. This blog not only
helped others read what I had accomplished in the project in greater detail, but it also helped me keep track of what I had done.
The blog contains about ten posts that go into great detail about every step of the project. The posts included what was completed,
what went well or what went poorly, how I felt about what was completed (or not completed if problems occurred), and what I looked to
do next with the project.

Project Plan
During the project, we we're required to put together a project plan that included an executive summary, details of the project,
objectives, assumptions and constraints, the solutions and alternate solutions, a work break down schedule, and cost estimates for the
project. This experience in writing up the project plan was very beneficial as I learned a lot about how to plan, organize and describe
a project in great detail. The skills I learned writing this project plan will no doubt help me in future projects. You can view the
project plan below.View the HTML version of the Project Plan

Work Breakdown Schedule
During the project we created and updated a work break down schedule using Microsoft Project. This was my first experience using
Microsoft Project and I learned that it is a very powerful tool for breaking down projects into manageable parts and is a very good
tool for a project manager. Below is the work breakdown schedule.

Interests Work Samples
Video Games
- Video game analyses - Below are three writing samples related to video games. The first one is an analysis of Uncharted 2 where I discuss the
various aspects of the design process that led to the great success of the game. The other two samples are in-depth reviews of
Eternal Sonata (Xbox 360) and Grand Theft
Auto IV (PS3). In the Eternal Sonata review, I discuss the usability, themes and motifs, and the technical aspects
of the game. In the GTA IV review, I describe some of the new features and how they improve the game play over the
previous games in the GTA series. These analyses and in-depth reviews are good samples of my analytical skills.
