Project Management
The courses in this section taught me the greater details behind project management such as how to write project plans and create work break down schedules. For each course, I give a brief description of some of the assignments I completed and I also showcase at least one sample of my work. Most of the courses I took in the major involved group work, so some of the activities required group documents. For those samples that are part of a group document, I will note which portion of the assignment that I completed.

LIS4910 - Information Technology Project
Spring 2008
Instructor: Melissa Raulston
This course focused on one main project in which you were sent out into the field to complete an actual project. For the project we had to write up a detailed project plan and a work breakdown schedule. This project plan consisted of a mission statement, objectives, costs analysis and other project necessities. My project was to work with the Goldstein Library at the College of Information to set up a data collection method for the humidity devices that they use to keep track of temperatures in the library. This course, and the real project, really taught me a lot about managing projects and gave me a great lesson in how projects are completed in the business world.

LIS3201 - Research and Data Analysis
Fall 2007
Instructor: Christopher Landbeck
In this course, the assignments focused on a variety of research methods. We learned about interviews, surveys, Gantt charts, Pareto charts, fishbone diagrams, observations, secondary data sources and more. This course taught me a lot about these research methods, which going into the course, I knew very little about. I learned how to write survey questions and how to conduct interviews. These skills will help me in the future as there may be times where I might need to interview end users. I might also need to create Gantt charts to help keep me organized in my future group projects.
Skills Acquired
- Interviewing Techniques
- Gantt Charts
- Fishbone Diagrams

- Research Scenario - This is the research scenario that my group developed. I put the document together, taking everyone’s
piece and putting it into a professional format. I also wrote the Mission portion of this document. Finally, I also reviewed and
edited the document.
